History of Texaco Employees' Credit Union:

An American assigned to update the Accounting System in Caltex Ireland, noted that there were a number of personal loans in the Caltex Nominal Ledger. He enquired as to whether there was a credit union in place. Contact was made, following sight of a letter to the Editor of the Evening Press from Nora Herlihy, whereby a study group was established to form a credit union for employees.

In 1962 Caltex Employees' Credit Union was formed and was one of the first ten credit unions in Ireland. Membership was limited to full time employees of Caltex (Ireland) Limited, serving in Ireland and to such temporary or non-established employees as the Board may from to time decide.

In 1967 the name of the Company was changed to Texaco (Ireland) Limited , and as a consequence, the name of the Credit Union was changed to Texaco Employees' Credit Union, and, with the passing of the Credit Union Act in 1966, the term Limited was added.

In 1989 the Common Bond was amended to include Pensioners of Texaco (Ireland) Limited, who had been members of the Credit Union at the time of their retirement.

At the Annual General Meeting of 2003 the members agreed unanimously to amend the Common Bond further to include employees and pensioners of Affiliated Companies of Texaco (Ireland) Limited.
